Packing for a Successful Move

Boxes, Paper & Tape, are reasonably priced. Uniform boxes speed up your move!

Packing properly means that your items arrive safely at the new location.

You may need:

• scissors
• Permanent marker
• Boxes
• Packing tape
• Bubble wrap
• Paper
• Colour coded stickers
  
  

Packing Tips:

1. Pack one room at a time.
   
2. Ensure that each box is clearly labelled, Use colour coded stickers if possible, with its intended location in the new house. (Ex. Living room, Garage, Den etc.) Also clearly label any boxes that are fragile or sentimental.
   
3. Empty all drawers of breakable or spillable items.
   
4. Wrap all items individually, especially if they are breakable or will scratch easily.
   
5. Pack boxes full, and make sure that the heavier items are on the bottom.
   
6. Put heavy items in small boxes so they are easy to carry.
   
7. Use a small box or plastic container to collect pieces such as furniture knobs and screws in one place. Label that box clearly and keep it with you so you know exactly where it is at your new home.
   
8. Pack items according to how frequently you use them so that you won't have to unpack all the boxes in the same day. You will only need to unpack a few essential boxes to get started unpacking at your new location.
   
9. Do not pack Aerosol, Paint, or other flammable and heat sensitive material. Discuss the safest way to transport these items with your moving company.
